Objectified Response

 While watching the documentary one object that really stuck out to me, the grid compass designed by Bill Moggridge. I chose this laptop mostly because I thought it looked cool, the look of old computers and technology is something that I find really fascinating because of how much the look of computers has changed over the years. From bulky black rectangles to the sleek design of many laptops today. the change in the aesthetic can be also witnessed in the film when a MacBook is presented by Jonathon Ive, both are laptops but look so drastically different due to the improvement of technology over time. 



when making my recreation I started off by making a large rectangular box, then I started carving out the indented lines and then the area in which the screen of the computer would be if it was flipped down. next, I worked on the flipped up part of the laptop. The screen part is just a square of a different colour made as thin as possible. To make the thin lines on the top part I used a rectangle of the thinnest I could to carve it in. The text feature was used to make the logo. 




The keyboard was the most tedious part because I tried to get the spacing right for the keys and rows. I would like to believe I did a good job with it. one thing I wish did was to make the model on a larger scale to get the details better. the limitation of Tinkecad prevented me from making the small details better.

 To create a hollow form 3D print is the project I did with my partner, Jaemin Jung.  Here were my original ideas Here were my partner's ideas Here is were some quickly put together rough models based on the sketches And lastly here are some pictures of the final when we were brainstorming they suggested the idea of cutting one of their concepts in half horizontally and wrap it around one of my concepts. that was our main idea and we ran with it even if it is a somewhat simple concept. the fusion of our two ideas is not super complicated to get the ideas together we had to do minor modifications to the inner object and some more major modifications to get it to fit around the inner object.

Papercraft research

       The French-based artists Zim and Zou (Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann) create beautifully detailed colourful sculptures made from simple materials such as paper. Every inch of their work is meticulosity put together and a joy to look at. the pieces they made recreating retro technology in the vibrantly coloured paper is my personal favourite.       Out of the many creations, they made the camera from above is by far the coolest to me just because of all the detail especially the purple grip part. On their website, they have a video timelapse showcasing the creation of much of the collection. The process involves them taking measurements from the real-world counterparts and noting them so when they start cutting the paper they can get to be the same size as what they are recreating. all the process shown in the video is them sitting down at a cutting mat meticulously cutting paper into the correct dimensions or shutting out tiny details from the paper.      As simple as the

Papercraft samples

 For this project I had to create 10 forms then unfold them. the 10 forms amounted to three objects for me personally.  The first was a book or tome that I thought would look cool but would also be the one with the most forms Next, I did a Computer monitor which was inspired by the one I look at every day this one is not at all as complex as the last but still had one complicated form to it.  Lastly, I made a sword that is a little simple but still does the job. the handle is made out of a ten-sided polygon and everything else is just rectangles.
