10 remixed things from thingiverse

Remix or read-write culture describes a society in which one can take the work of one person and mash it up with the work of another or editing a previous work in some way. The ability to freely use another person's work and then transform it into your own is the primary idea behind remix culture and exists in some forms mostly online. Thingiverse is the website used to create the objects in the pictures below heavily encourages remix culture it even mentions if a piece is based on another person's previous piece. In art, it's used quite a bit with collages and other forms of artwork. Parody is arguably another example of remix culture as it involves taking another person's work and modifying it to often make it more comedic. Sampling in music is also read-write culture, for example, the band the avalanches often makes songs with hundreds of samples.

when working on this project I was creatively stumped at the start and at the end but in the middle I where I felt like I excelled. This first image has a few broken models used, unfortunately. the idea though was the story of alligators in sewers with a random CRT monitor added on the back really just because

the concept was silly and I was just seeing what I could do, a similar story appears when working on the second one.

It's a little creepy and weird but also simple. a rocket with a head was just sort of me trying to have fun and make something strange. the next one is when I actually started to come up with some legitimate ideas.

I had used the tikercad tool to make the rope and banners between the towers to make something that has a little bit of story behind it. I had also watched lord of the rings recently so the idea of giant war elephants was in my mind I guess. this next one goes back to the simpler first two.

A flower pot but the flowers are hands. I did this because again I thought it would just look strange when done but in reality, it didn't come out as expected. the fifth mash-up is my personal favourite because I spent the most time on it.

using both models from Thingiverse and the tools available in tinkercad I made some sort of fantasy scene. this came about when I noticed all the fantasy stuff on Thingiverse and wanted to use them to make something cool.

This one is 100% based on the movie cowboys & aliens because I thought it would be funny not much to say about it.

I don't really know what to say about this paper plane with a knife blade in it. I was just running out of ideas and did this.

I resued the rocket from earlier to make a car that looks like it goes very fast. I also added some spikes to give the impression that it would hurt a lot more to be hit by it.

Again with all the fantasy things available to choose from I decided to make another scene this time one that looks like a game of DnD is being played with some models used for terrain.
